Minutes and reports from WDCL AGM 2009 are attached.

Agenda for WDCL AGM 2010 now available.

 

Please note:

We currently have two vacant posts:

  • Honorary Secretary
  • Fixtures Secretary
Any nominations for these vacant positions or if you wish to contend for any other position, please contact the match secretary.
 
It would be helpful if clubs reviewed the Minutes of the 2009 AGM.
Also review the formation of teams, therefore any issues can be rectified and ensure we have a smooth running AGM.

The league will supply a copy of agenda and proposals for each eligible voter, i.e. 1 per team.

WDCL 2010 Season Complete

Final League Tables, Cup Results and Individual Results have now been completed for the 2009-2010 season.

To check your results, see Results-All Divisions- Individual Details 2009 2010-Individual Player Results All Competitions, and contact the WDCL Match Secretary if you have any queries.

Commiserations to Penketh Chess Club, one of the founder members of the WDCL in 1946, who slip down from the top division for the first time in their history.

 
WDCL AGM 2010 - Agenda

The deadline for proposals has now passed.

No further proposals will be accepted.

The Agenda will be published on this website Before end of Monday 24 May 2010.

This should give all clubs the necessary times to fully discuss the issues with their members and hopefully we will have a smooth running AGM.

 
WDCL Secretary Resigns

The WDCL General Secretary, Richard Hughes, has resigned with immediate effect.

Richard underwent major heart surgery on Friday 30 April 2010.

All of the WDCL wish him a speedy recovery.

 
League AGM 2010

The League AGM is scheduled for 28 June 2010.

The deadline for proposals is six weeks before.

Therefore all proposals must be received in writing on or before the end of Monday 17 May 2010.

Proposals should be sent to the League Secretary.

Any proposals received after this deadline are NOT eligible to be submitted for the AGM.

Nigel Short Simul Event - 20th March 2010

Nigel Short Simul - 20 March 2010


Nigel Short is coming to the UK to play a simul against 30 boards, he will also be doing a talk and going through a couple of games for an hour or so before starting the simul.

Players who wish to watch Nigel short’s talk and demonstration, and play in thesimul will be charged £45 including entry. Entry for those not wishing to play will be £5

Warrington Chess Congress

e2e4 Chess is proud to announce that it will be holding it's first Warrington Chess Congress from 7th - 9th May 2010 at De Veres Daresbury Park Hotel, Daresbury, Warrington, Cheshire, WA4 4BB.


 The Warrington congress will be our first venture in the North, and will utilise the same successful formula of great playing venue, cheap hotel rates and good access.  The venue is easy to get to from Liverpool and Manchester as well as from further afield and of course the Open is FIDE rated.  It’s a British Championship Qualifier and carries attractive prizes.  

 The Major and Minor also offer great prizes and first class playing facilities.

Widnes Venue

Widnes Chess Club have changed their venue.

The new venue is :-

St Bedes Social Club.
Appleton Village.
Leigh Avenue,
Widnes.
WA8 6PD.

Go east at the traffic lights at the Kingsway junction (B5419 with the B5178), then after 100 yds or so take first left, then (almost immediately) first left into the car park.

The venue is next to St Bede’s Church.

 
Peninsular Cup Date Published on Calendar
The Peninsular Cup dates have been published on the Web Calendar. I have included all fixtures including byes. I have also included placeholders for fixtures that have not been assigned a date yet (pending results) Site members can login and setup reminders to be emailed to them prior to calendar dates (no excuse to forget a fixture anymore....). And for the technically able, you can access the calendars from your calendar program.
